A program during World War II that brought Mexican workers to the United states. During the Second World War, a serious labor shortage in the U.S. due to the expansion of the armed forces led to large numbers of Mexican workers being brought to American industries under this program. Many Mexican-Americans fought in World War II, and Mexico itself was an ally against the Axis powers, contributing to the victory.
